Le plaisir du texte - Roland Barthes (1973)

8.54 pm. Rainy day in Paris. Summer ? Brunch with my friend Jessé, then back home. Lot to do, but... Sleepy Hollow. Tim Burton. Johnny Depp. Excellent movie. . Who would question that ? Last night, I discussed politics with one of my uncles who graduated from l'ENA a long time ago. Now he is retired and wants to escape from the world. I can understand.

Today. Google : "François Hollande". Let’s see what’s up with our French President. Fascinating. It mainly only deals with the “normality” of the President & his “normal” vacation. Some exceptions : La Croix & le Nouvel Observateur. The first one is assessing his first 3 months. The second one is denouncing vehemently his being "too normal". Laughable : Le Point underlines the fact that François Hollande is in the Top 50 of the most favourite personnalities in France, lost among actors, sportsmen, singers... Pure People  featuring him with Valérie Trierweiler sitting at a french "buvette"...

I can’t help but think that we are in the middle of an international crisis, and the main concern is to be “normal”, as opposed to former President  Nicolas Sarkozy. No illusions.  The Olympic Games draws global attention while Syria is destroyed by revolution. It has always been like that. Nothing is changing.

At last, disarmed,  I wonder if  Some Like it Hot... Happy Birthday Marilyn.
