Would you like to help raise money for Movember?
Gallery of Mo was a website created for the 2011 Movember campaign where users could upload a photo of themselves and have it recreated as a portrait in whatever style the artist saw fit – with the addition of a shiny new moustache! Our artists spent 1 minute on the portrait for every £1 donated, creating a very diverse body of work and some pretty unique pieces of art as you can see here. The project proved to be a massive success and with just 20 volunteers we were able to raise over £5,000 towards awareness for men's health, specifically prostrate cancer and other cancers that affect men.
This year will be bigger than ever and we need you to help us take the Gallery of Mo to the next level. We are looking for artists and illustrators to help us create portraits of all those who donate; you can do as many or as few portraits over the month as you feel comfortable with, whenever it's convenient for you, in any style or medium you like – as long as you add a moustache to your design. If you want to contribute but don't want to draw based on the "£1 = 1 minute of your time" model then that's also fine; just indicate in the form below what level of donation you would want the user to pay for one of your portraits.
Just imagine how much money we could raise for this great charity if we had over 100 artists involved! The site will also be an excellent showcase of your work, exposing you to hundreds, if not thousands, of people over the course of the month. We’re happy to let all artists include links to their own websites, list their twitter name and include a short autobiography so that you can benefit from the great work that you are contributing to the charity.
If you are interested in donating your services for a few hours during the month of November then please fill in the form below and we'll be in touch.
